WELCOME AND FAREWELL FRIENDS
| Our resident
CR population has changed. In early May, three young men began their
year of Novitiate - a time to discern commitment with the Congregation
of the Resurrection. Eric Wagner, Toby Collins, and Phillip Datson
took up residence under the direction of Fr. Rich Grek, CR.
Clockwise, from left:
Eric Wagner, Toby Collins, Fr.
Rich Grek, CR., Paul Smith and Phillip Datson
They joined Paul Smith, who concluded
his Novitiate with his first vows on August 15, 2002, in his home parish,
Our
Lady of the Lake, Lake Arrowhead, California.

After two
years of tireless work on our retreat staff we bid a fond farewell to Carolyn
Ceynar,
Jason Ceynar, and Jennifer Johnson. The youth retreat work to which
these young adults have committed their lives is both enriching and challenging.
We pray that they will each carry deeper appreciation for the hope that
resurrection calls us all to manifest in our lives.
Carolyn will be teaching elementary
levels at the Montini Catholic School in McHenry.
Jason
will be pursuing graduate studies at NIU
in the educational technology field while serving as a technology resource
person for the public school system in Harvard.
Jennifer has taken a teaching
position at Queen of Peace High
School, in Burbank. Godspeed.

| If you
needed a lift, or perhaps a fresh baked cookie, and you had the energy
to stroll to our kitchen in the early to mid-nineties, you might have met
Barbara Rabbitt. Barbara worked here for several years before she
needed to retire for health reasons. She had an indomitable spirit
and a gentle demeanor. If you needed a colorful joke, Barbara always
had one, and her delivery was superb. Barbara died this past July.
Her family and friends in Woodstock celebrated her life. Pray for
her family and the repose of her soul. |
| Bob Botts,
Liz Cox and Emma Fox will join Sr. Colette Fahrner, Dawn Harris, and Josh
Hooker on our 2002-2003 Retreat Staff. Bob and Liz are both 2002
graduates from NIU and were
active in directing retreats for college students via the Newman
Center in DeKalb. They plan to wed in October so they probably
will not be able to direct any small groups for at least one weekend.
Emma Fox just graduated from Dominican
University in River Forest. Emma, a member of Resurrection Parish,
has worked on our Peacemakers
Summer Program in the past and brings a creative and faith filled spirit
to our team. We are excited to welcome these three new people to
our ministry. |
