the Very Reverend John Nowak,
C.R. - Provincial Superior of the Congregation of the Resurrection,
presented the Congregation's 2001 Vision of Hope Award to Jim Ivers, the

The Congregation gives this award
each year to someone who:

of Society

partners in the work of the Congregation
of the Resurrection

provides service to the Church
-
has offered years of faithful dedication
to one of the many apostolates of the Congregation
In
presenting the award to Jim at the Congregation's
annual banquet, Father Nowak stated that Jim is a person who "exemplifies
our mission and charism." He went on to remark that Jim "has labored
in the ministries of the Congregation for more than twenty-five years.
In the early 1970's Jim was a religious education teacher at Gordon
Tech High School in Chicago. In 1976 he became a charter member
of the group that opened Resurrection Center, where he is presently the
administrator. Father Nowak further stated that Jim's "spiritual
guidance has touched the hearts of many people with the gospel message
of Jesus Christ for more than a quarter of a century," and he called Jim
"a co-worker in our efforts to resurrect society."
Jim
received this award in the presence of several hundred members and friends
of the Congregation and Center staff and family members who gathered at
Poretta's Banquets in Chicago for the Order's
fourth annual dinner. Jim also accepted, in the name of the entire
Center staff, the Papal Blessing of His Holiness John Paul II, given on
the occasion of the
