Summer Echoes, Summer Insights,  Jim Ivers - Page 2
As we begin our 32nd year at Resurrection Center, the truth continues to affirm and challenge us in our efforts to build communities, to provide hospitality, to promote holiness, and to proclaim hope - not an easily realized mission, in the face of events
such as the "failure" of the Middle East Peace Talks, the recurring and senseless shootings of children on city streets, and the malaise brought on by our own sense of over-extension and lack of meaning in the activities of our daily lives.  The needs are real and we must have faith that we have all that we need to accomplish the mission.
Whether we recount the feedings of thousands, the calm in the midst of a tempest, or sight given to the blind - the basic Gospel premise of trusting in God's presence and unconditional love - it is clear that our ability to transform becomes possible only within the context of our faith, that is, the relationship with God and the rest of creation.  Our faith allows us to proceed, despite our doubts.  Our faith moves us to connect with other people to accomplish more than we could accomplish on our own.
Nurture your faith during these summer months.  Take the time to pray, and to remember to whom you belong.
